Obituary

Gaynelle, "Gay" Nash finally joined her beloved husband J.L. Nash in heaven on Thursday June 15th, 2017. Gay spent her early years in Lepanto, Arkansas where she grew up with a handsome, hard-working man who won her heart. They were blessed with their first daughter Sandra Gay when they were nineteen. Several years later, the family relocated to Southern California where the Nash's spent the rest of their lives. At forty, Gay and J.L. were surprised to find that another blessing was in their future: Alyssa Shawn was born in 1968. Gay always laughed and said, "This is my secret to staying young." Gay was a homemaker most of her life, but a book-keeper by trade who always helped keep the finances in order, both in the house and the family business.
Gay loved to travel, paint, play the ukulele, but most of all, she loved to sing. Gay spent many years singing in the Calvary Baptist Church choir, and breathed her gift of song into both her girls. Diagnosed with Alzheimer's over a decade ago, much of her memories failed her; nevertheless, when prompted, she knew all the words to most hymns even when she was aware of little else. The wonderful care-home workers who took such amazing care of her for the past six years called her "the songbird."
Gaynelle is survived by her daughters Sandra Brown of Sun City, CA. and Alyssa Boyer of Wichita, KS; grandchildren Timothy McShane Jr., Kevin McShane, Braden Donnelly, Brie Donnelly, and Brenna Donnelly; sister-in-law Nancy Williams, nephews Darreld Dee Short, Bob Williams, Johnny Williams; and nieces Kelly Fickenger, Lela Hansen, and Nancy Briggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Nash; parents James Edmond Williams and Lela Williams; sister, Marcelle Herrin and brother, James Edmond Williams Jr; brother and sister-in-law Buzz and Nettie Sue Short; nephews Jim Herrin, Kevin Herrin, and Jimi Williams.
There will be a viewing at White's Funeral Home in Bellflower CA. on Wednesday June 21st, from 4:00-7:00, and a graveside celebration of her life on Thursday at 10:00am Rose Hills Cemetery, Lot 5309 Cherry Blossom Lane. Although Gay adored flowers, consider donating instead to the Alzheimer's Foundation at: https://www.alzfdn.org/ContributetoAFA/makeadonation.html
